DEBUTANTE BALL

The Dayton Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated hosts an Annual Debutante Ball to recognize outstanding young ladies for their scholastic achievements and community involvement. This charity event provides a platform to showcase young ladies while enabling the sorority to raise funds to provide scholarships to young people desiring to further their education beyond high school. We encourage good character and career planning. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Dayton Alumnae Chapter, is interested in helping morally fit, intelligent, wholesome young ladies to present as Debutantes. A young lady's financial status is NOT a criterion. Our goal is to help guide young ladies to be the best they can be by making their journey a little easier to navigate. Throughout the Debutante Season the young ladies participate in community service projects, are exposed to career development information and have fun while they prepare for the culminating event: The Debutante Ball. This Ball provides a mechanism for families to show society how poised and confident their graduating seniors are as they prepare to move on to higher educational pursuits.

What is a Debutante? A debutante is a young lady who is reaching the age of maturity and as a new adult is introduced to society at a formal presentation. The Debutante Ball is a formal event where each Debutante wears a white ball gown, long white gloves and a tiara, and is presented by her father or father figure. It is a "Cinderella Rite of Passage" for young ladies who have prepared themselves morally and educationally for the next step in their lives.
